NewsDemon SABnzbd setup mirrors any secondary server: SSL hostname, credentials, optional Priority 1, moderate connections. Primary remains Newshosting or Eweka on Priority 0. Follow baseline steps in SABnzbd setup guide and hub context at NewsDemon vs Newshosting.
Hostname and SSL
Paste NewsDemon NNTP host from account panel, enable SSL on port 563, verify cert warnings are absent.
NewsDemon retail packages UsenetExpress capacity for fill duty beside a Newshosting or Eweka primary. The classic stack is Priority 0 flagship unlimited on SSL 563 and Priority 1 optional NewsDemon block or metered account. Optional prevents burning fill GB on articles your primary already completed. See NewsDemon vs Newshosting for role diagrams.
Connections
Ten to twenty connections suffice for fill; primary uses higher count.
Blocks that never expire suit home users with occasional misses better than a second unlimited monthly bill. Unlimited Express makes sense when miss rates stay high after tuning connections and indexers, or when you deliberately run Express as a budget primary with known retention tradeoffs.
Priority 1 optional
Mark server optional so SABnzbd queries it only after primary miss.
Express retention class differs from flagship Highwinds and Eweka marketing. Fill patches segments on failed articles; it does not replace deep library browsing on a primary. Verify live retention on merchant pages yearly because Express infrastructure evolves independently of Highwinds banners.
Troubleshooting
Auth failures usually mean copied password spaces; SSL off causes privacy leaks, not always immediate errors.
EU stacks may use Eweka NTD primary with the same NewsDemon fill pattern Americans use beside Newshosting. Do not pair NewsDemon with NewsgroupDirect expecting two Express backbones to diversify. Trace brands on the backbone map before checkout.
When in doubt, run a seven day SSL test on your shortlist before annual prepay.
Keep a simple miss log in SABnzbd so fill purchases follow evidence, not forum anecdotes.
