Newshosting often bundles a VPN with unlimited plans, pitching privacy alongside NNTP. The VPN protects general internet traffic on devices where you enable it; Usenet downloads still rely on SSL to news servers. Compare bundle value inside Newshosting vs Eweka and read VPN bundle guide before choosing solely for VPN.
Bundle details to verify
Confirm VPN client OS support, simultaneous devices, and whether VPN is included on your specific cart tier. Promos change line items seasonally on deals.
Role clarity beats brand loyalty. Newshosting excels as a US Highwinds primary with fast domestic farms and optional bundled VPN; Eweka excels as a Dutch NTD flagship with EU retention class and Amsterdam peering. Retention marketing looks similar; takedown timing and farm location differ. Use the comparison hub as a map, then confirm with your own SABnzbd logs.
VPN vs SSL
SSL on port 563 encrypts NNTP payload to Newshosting. VPN adds a tunnel for broader traffic; it is not a substitute for indexer OPSEC or payment identity choices.
Americans choosing Eweka accept transatlantic RTT in exchange for NTD process and EUR billing convenience. Americans choosing Newshosting prioritize US speed and VPN bundle value on the same Highwinds class many resellers sell. Neither choice removes the need for independent fill when indexers surface older posts that one backbone missed.
Privacy stack
Combine SSL, sensible indexer habits, and optional VPN when on untrusted Wi-Fi. EU readers weighing Eweka may care more about NTD regime than bundled VPN.
SSL on port 563 is mandatory for either provider. VPN bundles on Newshosting protect general Wi-Fi traffic; they do not change DMCA versus NTD on the news server. Read DMCA vs NTD before treating jurisdiction as a magic completion fix. Privacy also depends on indexer habits and payment identity separate from NNTP.
EU alternatives
Eweka does not mirror Newshosting VPN packaging; plan a separate VPN vendor if you need tunneling plus Dutch NNTP primary.
Migration between brands is mostly SABnzbd server rows: hostname, credentials, SSL, priorities. Overlap one billing month when switching primaries so you can compare miss rates fairly. Add NewsDemon fill after measured gaps instead of buying Easynews or UsenetServer as fake diversity beside Newshosting.
