Switching from Easynews web UI to SABnzbd keeps your provider or moves you to lean NNTP unlimited depending on plan economics. SABnzbd unlocks scheduling, fill priorities, and indexer integration. Follow SABnzbd setup and read Easynews vs Newshosting if you reconsider plan pricing.
Keep or change provider
If NNTP is included on Easynews, test SABnzbd with existing credentials first. If tiers are web-only, migrate to Newshosting promos on deals.
Easynews and Newshosting are both Highwinds-family unlimiteds packaged for different buyers. Easynews sells search, preview, and browser downloads; Newshosting sells lean NNTP economics, newsreader apps, and VPN bundles. Pairing them as primary plus fill wastes money because takedowns align. Real fill means UsenetExpress or NL independents from the block hub.
Server settings
Hostname, username, password, SSL 563, twenty to forty connections to start.
Beginners often start on Easynews web UI, then outgrow manual search when queues and automation matter. Newshosting plus SABnzbd plus indexers is the usual graduation path when cost per completed NZB drops. Easynews NNTP on qualifying tiers can bridge the transition without changing backbone mid-stream.
Indexer add-on
Add indexers per indexer guide for search parity with Easynews web.
Search quality comparisons should include external indexers, not web UI alone. Easynews integrated search reduces day-one friction; dedicated indexers feed automation libraries long term. SSL protects NNTP payload regardless of whether you click downloads in a browser or queue NZBs in SABnzbd.
Priorities
Configure optional fill such as NewsDemon at Priority 1, never Easynews plus Newshosting together as fake fill.
When evaluating VPN inclusion, read live cart lines on both brands during the same week. Bundled VPN may sway Newshosting shoppers; web UI value may sway Easynews shoppers. Neither replaces SSL to news servers. For NTD primaries, compare Eweka instead of buying a second Highwinds unlimited.
